2024-06-07 Penultimate day aboard

Sunrise

I got going very early as it is going to be a busy day today. The first two hours were admittedly rather rough – I had run out of coffee and rather than buy another sachet of that excruciatingly bad stuff I opted to wait for the café to open ashore.

I am making only slow progress on the boat, but meeting with some success at work.

The galley storage is now emptied of all items except canned food. The fridge is almost empty and will be defrosted overnight and the freezer is warm, dry and clean. I still need to do the final work surface cleaning and then the galley can be checked of my to-do list of work items.

Noon

I have some of the hanger steak left over (well, half of it…) from last night. It was very tasty and tender, and I’m going to have it for lunch on my last piece of bread. Once that’s out of the fridge all I have left in there is a couple of cold beers. After happy hour I can turn off the fridge as well and get that defrosted, cleaned and dried out.

The varnishing folks have come by and looked at my floor. In typical good tradesman fashion, they sucked in their breath and shook their heads at the condition of the floor. I’m sure that’ll help ease my pain when they make an estimate.
