Night and Morning
A band of showers and unsettled air has moved in from the east and deposited a bit of rain and low-flying cloud cover. I’d originally planned on taking today off work and getting things arranged on the boat, but I know that the bottom paint won’t be progressing much today so I opted to spend the day in the virtual office.
I had a Chernobyl-mutant grasshopper or locust come flying into the cottage last night. It would fly about and hit a wall with a thud like a baseball hitting wood. I got a good stare at it before turning off the light, but it was wary and I couldn’t get close to it.
It did bounce around a bit over the night, and when I opened the door in the morning I think it chose to vacate the premises as I haven’t seen it since. Half the windows are fully open, and I get a lot of geckos and frogs coming in – plus all the flying stuff when I have the lights on at night.
Noon
The sun is peeking through the clouds, but now that I’ve committed to working I’ve got to complete the full workday before heading to the boatyard. The distance to the boatyard on the map isn’t far, but it is a bit of a commute.
At the yard I was surprised to see that the first layer of Trinidad pro bottom paint had already been applied! The two workers were putting the finishing touches on the bottom. Tomorrow they’ll do the next coat, I hope.
Evening
I drove down to Windward for dinner, I’d been told that the Pizza Meh Heart was worth going to. It would have been worthwhile, had I read their online page stating that they are closed Mondays. So it was home-cooking time again today.
