Morning rituals

I’m preparing to depart soon, and my morning coffee-making ritual has been changed. Normally, I measure out my beans by weight, put them into the grinder, put water on the kettle to boil, and then go topsides to check out the weather and scenery while grinding the beans. By the time I’ve finished and have put the grounds into the coffee filter, the water is boiling, and I do my careful slow pour. With only instant coffee available to me, this process is streamlined. I’m surprised that I’ve found the taste isn’t so bad, even though I’ve also run out of milk.
I hope that Carrefour delivers my groceries soon. I ordered on Friday morning, and they promised delivery within 48 hours. It has now been 72 hours, and the only thing that has happened is that they debited my account for the purchases.
Noon
I’ve still had no response from Carrefour regarding my groceries. Their phone goes unanswered, and my E-Mail missive doesn’t seem to have worked, either. I am hungry, but I don’t want to leave the boat in case they do come by with the delivery.
14:00
Still no delivery from Carrefour. I quickly went across the street to the bakery for a baguette sandwich, which I’m consuming now. I’ll certainly not be using that food delivery service again.
18:00
I’ve not left the boat and am getting vexed with Carrefour – no answer on the phone or to my emails. My food and beverage order totalled €200, and I plan on leaving tomorrow at noon. I told them to cancel my order, but with no response at all, I’m in limbo. I don’t want to go shopping elsewhere for food if they do deliver, but I want to stock up here with French food rather than go shopping for British food in Antigua.
At least I used all that time aboard productively at the keyboard. I remained logged into work and managed to get a lot done. I’ve got my suitcase full of clothes for the laundry; I wanted to take care of that today after work, but I’m tethered to the boat. I just wish that they would respond to either deliver or let me cancel and get on with my life.
19:30
No food delivery in sight. I’ve only got enough Nescafé left for tomorrow morning; the situation is getting dire. I’m tired of waiting and am going ashore for dinner. Preparing to depart didn’t go as well as I’d hoped.
