Work
Little is to be said for work today, apart from it being a lot easier in the calm waters of the lagoon than the previous day’s toil on a rolling boat.
Batteries
I got the second batch of 8 100Ah Lead-Carbon batteries from Island Waterworld and worked up a sweat getting them aboard. Then I had to remove the old batteries from the compartment below the galley, and that proved tougher than expected.
Installing the new ones went quickly and I really like the bus bars as they also keep the batteries together. I finished in time for dinner, all I have to do is tie down the straps to the batteries, but that will take work to get them in place and I’ll postpone that until tomorrow.
I am already feeling a bit sore from all the lifting and carrying. Moving the batteries in the confined space of the battery compartment is no small task, either.
Ashore
Marjorie and Mark are departing for the Bahamas tomorrow and they came into the Soggy Dollar to say goodbye to all their friends. Mark’s boat is smaller than mine and consequently they will be underway for 7-8 days.
The bar was hopping on Friday night and I knew I’d have to insert some earplugs when I returned to Zanshin. The speakers are only about 150 feet away from my berth and they play until 2am or 4am, depending upon the crowd.
