2023-06-29 All Work and No Play

Today feels like an “all work and no play” day so far.

I got up very early for virtual meetings, then basically sat the computer screen until now, 15:00! My Fitbit says I’ve taken only 900 steps and I think most of those were to the galley to make coffee and to the bathroom to get rid of it. I did have a chat with Sandra and Sascha, who’d visited me in January, and I have a video “Happy Hour” drink and chat session in a couple of minutes. But the rest of the time really was a lot of work and no play.

The only thing of note that happened was the park collections boat that came around. I’ve now found out that my boat costs double that of the under-50-feet ones; regardless of whether they are a catamaran or a monohull. But at US$20 per day this is still a wonderful location.

I did arrange with Marjorie and Mark that we’d head off to Paradise Beach Club for happy hour and dinner. That’ll be my second happy hour of the day – but I think I’ll be able to cope. Mark managed to hail the restaurant launch and arrange a pickup shortly before sunset.

The restaurant launch came by on time and picked me up, then we picked up Marjorie and Mark and flew across to the beach in front of the restaurant. There was a moment of worry as it became clear that neither I nor Mark had made reservations – but luckily the launch operators had done so when Mark had contacted them for a pickup.

The location is unbeatable, and the service and food was much better than I’d expected.  We had a tasty meal and fun time before getting ferried back to our respective boats in the late evening.
