Sunrise
I woke up around sunrise and noticed that, despite the windstill conditions outside, the cloud cover was different and promised a change in weather. Indeed, a frontal passage was about to occur.
I got a message from Mark saying I should look at the big weather picture and I was surprised at the dark and deep clouds forming from Guadeloupe all the way south to St. Lucia! Fortunately the other indicators for a TRS are all missing, but it certainly did promise us some wind and rain.
Morning
I had to shut my hatches 3 times for rain; unfortunately not enough to wash away all the salt. At least not without my assistance using a brush, and I didn’t feel like getting wet and cold this morning.
The weather prevented me from thinking about outdoor activities, so I got a lot of work done in the office. During my coffee breaks I pondered my plans for heading further south.
Lunch and Afternoon
I’m going to stay aboard today as the wind and weather won’t make the upwind trip to the only village on the island worthwhile. I will go for another swim session to further separate the local flora from my boat’s undersides.
The frontal passage is now just a memory. The sun is shining and the winds are strong outside of this secluded anchorage. The toll collectors just came by and after I told them in my broken French that I’d decide my length of stay tomorrow I capitulated and paid for another 2 days.
Dinner
I really got lazy when it came to dinner. I was going to simmer some Bolognese sauce for a while, but in the end just boiled some water for spaghetti Olio e Aglio.
