Arnd

2023-05-16 Still here

I’m still here in Antigua today. I need to get coffee at the Carib Bean Roasters. My laundry won’t be finished until around noon today. I should get some diesel to replenish what I’ve used here at anchor, and then I’ll depart either tonight for a night passage or tomorrow early in the morning.

The distance is about 43NM from anchor to anchor. So if I use a conservative 6 knots speed then it is just over 7 hours in total. I’ll not have to leave at first light; anytime before 11AM will let me arrive before dark.

After several lengthy web conference calls and some work on the computer, I’m getting a bit tired of staring at the screen. I need to get my fix at the coffee roasters; otherwise I might go into caffeine withdrawal.

I finally got in gear at 15:00 and dinghied to the Catamaran Marina. This is a mislabeling, as it is the home of Oyster Yachts here in Antigua.

From the docks it was about 2KM up the hill to the Carib Bean Coffee Roasters and I got 1KG of Guatemala medium roast. That should tide me over for a while.

After disposing of my coffee aboard, I went ashore and filled up my 2 20L canisters with diesel and also picked up my laundry.

Back aboard, I transferred the diesel to the main tank and put the laundry away. Then I played around with this website, attempting to get the menu system truly responsive to visitors using desktops, tablets and mobile devices. I’m not having as much success as I’d like, but it is getting a bit better. I’ve got the footer working acceptably, now it’s time to look at the header.

I chose to remain aboard tonight rather than go ashore. I cooked up some rice to accompany the remaining 2 Merguez sausages for a simple meal.
