Sunrise
It’s back to the grindstone today after my weeklong vacation at the Antigua Sailing Week. I logged into my work account and started with catching up on my e-mails; hundreds of them. Most of them are status update e-mails for open tickets and cases on our new IBM product. Unfortunately, they all need to be followed up or at least read.
Morning
I’m on my second cup of coffee and it’s time for a lengthy conference call. At least I’m getting caught up at work, albeit slowly. I had a quick look outside earlier and although I have a couple of new neighbors in the anchorage, many more boats are leaving than are arriving.
Noon
I ate a boiled egg for lunch, that should tide me over until dinner. I plan on going ashore tonight, but haven’t decided where to. I’m still splitting my time between chores aboard and remote work. Some of the jobs I’m starting take a long time to complete, so I’ll do something aboard (like washing the dishes) while the job runs and return to work when it completes.
Evening
I finished up work late and went ashore shortly thereafter in the twilight. I just wanted to meet people, so I went to Club Sushi and the place was very loud and busy.
There was a reception for the Antigua to Newport Race next door, and I dropped in to say “hello” to those I knew there.
After just one drink at the bar, I decided that I wasn’t that hungry and forbore dinner ashore.
I returned to Zanshin and finally capitulated and made the one backup meal I had in the cupboard. A beef instant ramen. It was filling, salty and sufficient.
