Night
The moon is waxing gibbous at the moment, with the full moon coming in 2 nights. I find that I really do sleep less soundly close to the full moon. Perhaps a bit of werewolf blood? I woke a couple of times during the night but not due to rolling or noise. The swell was really quite mellow in the nighttime hours. Now I’m rolling and working.
Morning
I’m currently on my second cup of coffee and working my way through the accumulated e-mails at work. I’ve got one more conference call and then I can work undisturbed for the rest of the day. I’ll have to do some grocery shopping ashore soon, as my galley is quite bare. And after the tasty ribs from last night I’m going to have to give that a try as well.
Sea Life is looking very stable, anchored close to shore. Once I finish work and the gusty winds die down I’ll scope out the area for a suitable new home for Zanshin.
Noon
My diesel pump was supposed to have arrived at the freight forwarder’s in Florida yesterday but is delayed until today. I hope to get the new pump tomorrow or the day thereafter. So far, Four Star Cargo has always been exceptionally fast and efficient. Just after I typed that text the confirmation came and I should be able to pick up the package on Friday (perhaps sooner).
My FitBit watch has broken and I saw that I could fix it myself with a bit of Crazy Glue. I did so, applying just a small drop to the two broken areas. After I’d let it dry during my conference call, I realized that a third drop had come out and penetrated through the paper towel. This drop was now hardened onto the Corian countertop in an unsightly blob. Thanks to Google I saw that acetone would dissolve it, and not the countertop. But I was careful with the swabs and with a bit of knife work and elbow grease the spot is now smooth and clean. I had to keep the acetone from sliding around while I was rolling and working on the removal process.
Ashore
I went ashore in the dinghy before 5PM and got some more fuel from Island Waterworld before watching the inbound opening. Afterwards I drifted to the Soggy Dollar bar where they were already setting up for the Salsa Night. I didn’t stay that long and joined some fellow sailor at Little Jerusalem for a shawarma before heading back home.
