Night
Sometime during the night the weather shifted. I awoke and was rolled around on the bed for a while and put in earplugs to mask the slapping on the hull. But in the morning the Trades had returned to the Caribbean and Zanshin was pointed in the correct direction, the winds had picked up, and there was no more rolling.
Morning
I did have to close and open the hatches a couple of times to prevent slight rainfall entering the boat, but after the front passed with 20 knots or more of wind all was well. It is refreshing to return to “normal” boat movement at anchor. Water activities outside are back to normal and I can see the patches of Sargassum get blown offshore.
Noon
Even though it is Friday, I’ve still got a lot of work to complete before I can call it quits for the day. But I’m using my lunch break to update the website and grab a quick sandwich. Today is St. Patrick’s Day so I’ll have to make sure to find some green items of clothing before heading ashore. Since the trades are back the boat is solid in the water and pointing at the right direction.
Evening
I found a green Heineken baseball cap and an old T-Shirt which was once bright green but still retains a bit of color. Ashore I found that many had struggled to find appropriate attire.
Yet others had planned ahead and brought a complete wardrobe along. Not everyone was in the spirit of things, though. This dog was unimpressed by the human’s antics and wasn’t being fed, either.
I hung around for a 5PM bridge opening that had exactly 1 boat enter – I’ve never seen that happen before. I think that all the inbound traffic had been at the 3PM bridge earlier.
The main street was busy with revelers despite the early hour. Although I wasn’t hungry I needed some food and ended up at the Tap and Still for an early dinner. Several places had live music and I listened to a group at one of the LoLos doing old Sinatra and other “crooner” songs.
