Rolling
I might have to rethink using WindGuru for my weather forecasts. They showed no northern swell at all, but there’s some serious deep and long swell coming around. The boat is rolling around a lot. Not quite enough to roll me off the bed or tip over glasses, but not far off, either. At least I’ll leave the boat later for the Heineken Regatta preparation; but I have to survive a full day in the virtual office first.
Morning
The less said about progress at work, the better. It was a busy day at the office this morning and the only consolation is that I’ve got tomorrow and Friday off.
Many boats went in and out during the bridge openings today.
Afternoon
Once I’d completed work I headed to the PdP marina to see what, if anything, I could do on this preparation day. I filled the time until our 16:00 briefing by doing various tasks. Our PRO (Principal Race Officer), Mark Townsend, held the meeting and I’ve been assigned the main task of entering the finish times as soon as practicable after the race.
Someone on the race committee had remembered that I worked in IT and would therefore be predestined to enter data in a Web-App. I didn’t mention that not everyone working in IT was a data-entry person 🙂 I was also to be a “jumper” since I’ve done most of the tasks on the boat before.
While the village was mostly set-up with food and drink stalls, I returned to the SMYC for late drinks and dinner before trying to get an early night.
