Early Morning
I was up at 4am and began my workday early. Today is Mardi Gras in Grand Case and I want to be finished in the “office” in time to head ashore and watch the procession. With luck I’ll make it to Marigot for the big one, but even the smaller one in Grand Case should be a lot of fun.
Morning
Lots of coffee later, I’m only making small progress at work. What should be a 10-minute task has taken over 3 hours so far. And my fridge nothing I can consider eating for breakfast (unless beer, vacuum-sealed steak, garlic or water can be combined creatively).
Noon
Progress at work remains slow and the weather outside is beautiful and enticing. I’m tempted to get out and about, but there’s just so much left to do in the office. I did find some crispy bacon in the fridge and parts of a frozen baguette in the freezer. A quick sear on the BBQ thawed out the bread and the bacon made for a savory spread.
Afternoon & Evening
Once I completed work I was ready to head ashore again. Shortly before leaving, I saw a lone swimmer approach the boat and put out the boarding ladder for her. It turns out that the swimmer is a young German lady who is looking to crew on a boat heading towards the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, apart from giving her something to drink I was unable to help her.
Ashore, I walked to Captain Frenchy’s and met up with Suzy and Dan for a happy hour drink on the beach. The Mardi Gras in Grand Case celebration had been cancelled that day. Instead of heading back to the boat, I joined them for dinner at Le Télégraphe in Orient Bay. I’d never eaten at any of the establishments there. I was pleasantly surprised at both that restaurant and the layout of the other places.
Unfortunately, I’d neglected to put the charged battery back into my camera. So I was lugging around a heavy piece of metal and glass instead of a high-tech camera; and I have no more pictures from today.
Dan drove me back after dinner and I returned back aboard for the night.
