The night was a bit better, although I did wake up around 1AM to find a boat trying to anchor or re-anchor next to Zanshin. Once they succeeded and were far enough downwind of me to not cause a problem I went back to sleep. It is going to be a relaxed Sunday today.
The first coffee without my Hario V60 didn’t work out too well, the Hario filter system is unlike the Melitta as it has no base and thus needs a bit more room. But I’m properly caffeinated now and ready to address some boat projects.
Several bigger yachts have come to Grand Case. That’s a good indication that the conditions will continue to improve. I do want to head to the Dutch side soon, though. I need to do some shopping and want to find a good spot inside the lagoon prior to the Heineken Regatta start.
Maintenance
I decided to work on some general maintenance tasks today. The watermaker, after replacing the salinity probe, has been making strange noises and is no longer producing as much fresh water as before. I spent an hour trying to find the cause, without any success.
While the engine was running and watermaker chugging away, I decided to run my dishwasher. I’ve been collecting dishes for a week to make it worthwhile. A couple of minutes after starting, I noticed a lot of water leaking into the floorboards. I stopped the dishwasher, sopped up the leaked water, and tried to figure out the cause. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out how to access the bottom of the dishwasher. I ended up washing all my dishes by hand.
Afternoon and dinner
I decided to go ashore and walk a bit, strolling up and down the main street and looking at the menus. Actually, there’s a great German term which doesn’t have a direct translation, it is called “flanieren”. That’s what I did.
Instead of returning to the boat, I decided to have a beer and some ribs for an early dinner at the Rib Shack LoLo while watching the people and the setting sun. The meal was acceptable and the view impeccable.
I returned to Zanshin just as the sun was setting and will finish this blog entry before continuing reading my current book, on of the Witcher series. It has, overall, been a relaxed Sunday today.
