Early morning work segued to provisioning at Hope Estate later on in the day.
A Canadian couple I’d met days earlier had a rental car and picked me up in Grand Case so that we could go shopping. We plan on heading out to either Ile Tintamarre or Friar’s Bay tomorrow and shopping for a bit of food turned into a major shopping spree!
The parking lot in Grand Case has always had a bit of a rough reputation. The lady at the rental agency had told me that one of their cars got stripped there overnight, and this image doesn’t present the parking lot in it’s best light, either.
Afternoon
I’ve caught up on my work and realize that if I’m to entertain visitors aboard tomorrow I should clean up a bit. Part of the provisioning supplies included a baguette and cheese. Just as with peanuts or M&Ms, you can’t just have one bit and stop. The majority of the baguette is now gone, along with a lot of cheese. And it’s so hard to get up and motivate myself to clean up…
Evening
I didn’t clean up. I’ll do it during work breaks tomorrow morning. I’ve repeated that to myself often enough that I’m close to actually believing it. I believe in advertising they use the rule of 9 times. And I read a very interesting study from a psychological journal a while back about the mechanism of pleasure. Thinking about eating chocolate several times (I think it was 7 times) released similar amounts of dopamine compared to actually eating chocolate. Plus it was a lot less calories! That approach didn’t work while provisioning at Hope Estate, but I’m still working on that.
