The day started late, as I had some home-office work to complete before we would do our boat shopping and sightseeing today. The anchorage in Grand Case is comfortably calm, despite our anchor spot being one of the remotest from the shore. The whole bay is shallow with good holding, but it does get a bit crowded close to shore.
Morning
We headed off to the clothing store first – Sascha’s credit card had been double-charged and he needed to sort that out. Afterwards we zipped into Cul-de-Sac to visit the Ma Dou Dou store and pick up some hand-painted bottles of flavored rum.
Afterward we drove into Cole Bay and I purchased my first battery-powered drill (a whole kit from Milwaukee). Then it was Island Waterworld and Budget Marine for chandlery items and finally Ace hardware for locks and lights. I only had a partial shopping list and got the big-ticket items, but I’m sure I’ll have to return to all the stores at least once to complete my purchases.
Afternoon
The final stop on the way back to Grand Case was to stop at the big Carrefour grocery store to provision the boat. I was fortunate that Sandra and Sascha took over that part as the bill was pretty hefty. This was because of all the quality beef that we acquired! I can’t wait to get those T-Bones and filets on the grill…
Evening
After storing everything aboard we went ashore for a pizza. But the reputable pizzeria had closed so we ended up at Talk of the Town for a good Lolo dinner. And then, back aboard Zanshin, we talked for a while before heading off to bed. Boat shopping and sightseeing had filled the day; coupled with a big dinner we weren’t going to last long.
