Today is Boxing Day in the Caribbean, and I’ve got sore muscles. These are from the contortions and odd positions I was in yesterday. The cuts are scabbing and I feel good about my engine and am ready to depart today. If customs & immigration is open and if I can get a bit of supplies for the trip north. It is quite windy and gusty and there’s still some overcast, but nothing exceptional and certainly nothing to keep me in this anchorage.
Morning
Today is a holiday for me, as the offices in Germany are closed in celebration of Christmas. And after yesterday, I feel like a I need a day off. Consequently, I’m at the computer and updating this site. The Windguru weather shows some gusty conditions and the waves out there big at 2.8m or almost 10 feet and a period 9 seconds. So perhaps I’ll wait another day; I’m actually in no hurry to get anywhere, I’m just antsy to get somewhere else.
I’ve been working on adding a new page to the site with a table of pictures of the boats I’ve seen, sortable by the columns. This is tedious, but should make for an interesting page once I find and insert most of the images. You can already see the page at Yachts Seen.
Lunch
Braving the winds, I zipped into Rodney Bay marina at lunch. I was surprised to see everything open and purchased some butter and cheddar cheese. While that sounds innocuous, it made a big dent in my cash reserves.
Afternoon
I got tired of staying alone aboard, so dinghied ashore to Jambe de Bois for happy hour. And to talk with fellow sailors and travelers. The clouds obscured the sunset and it looks like I’ll be closing the hatches soon as it looks like rain.
The winds haven’t abated either. I’ll see what the weather is like tomorrow and then decided if I’ll depart for Martinique.
