Nighttime
Ahh, a liveaboard Sunday. But not necessarily restful. Last night 3 good bands played ashore. The first was an excellent old-school Reggae band, the second was a local band with a great vocalist and the third was a full orchestra of steel drums. Unfortunately, all 3 them were playing at the same at different location on the beach. The acoustics all pointed straight at Zanshin, preventing me from enjoying the sound. Around 2AM the only music playing was loud and (to me) obnoxious aggressive SoCa. The earplugs took care of that.
Morning
There’s still not a hint of wind, but the trades should fill in soon, once the big Atlantic storm system moves further north and east. It is going to be a scorcher today. I’ve got no plans, so today will be a liveaboard Sunday and I don’t know if I’m even going to leave the boat.
I went topsides to dump the ground from my second cup of coffee and was surprised to see a large cruise ship anchored in the bay, they snuck into here in stealth mode.
According to marinetraffic.com it is the 690 feet long Seabourn Ovation. Most likely that means shuttles ashore all day, disturbing the anchorage. It also means that Jambe de Bois will see some business, as it tends to be empty despite the great location and service.
Noon
The toilet parts soaked for 24 hours in diluted vinegar. Then I cleaned the toilet parts with a toothbrush to remove scale. Finally, I did get the motor working – but just barely. It turned, but with resistance and with an unhealthy crunching sound. So, I took it apart and confirmed that it was indeed time to retire the old and get a new one. I hope that they have a spare at the chandlery so that I can finish the task before heading to St. Martin.
