It was a close call; I almost extended my hotel room. But I checked out of the hotel at noon and I’m back aboard Zanshin. It is still a bit musty down here, but I’ve got two A/C units working. That’s enough to get the air circulating and drying out the boat.
The fridge on Zanshin is still off (and empty), and the larder needs to get filled. There’s some bottled water aboard, so I should be good to go for the first night. I got the bed made and the sheets are clean. The can certainly use some airing. I don’t know about the pillows, perhaps it is easier to just replace them.
I cheated a bit at the hotel and managed to get a number of free drinks at the pool bar despite having returned my all-inclusive armband. It was nice to socialize with my newfound Canadian friends. I’m sure they won’t miss me and now I have to see if there are any cruisers here at the marina. All of the boats and people that I knew are long gone.
I had a Thai dinner upstairs at the Bosun’s Chair. While tasty, I really dislike all the subsequent fees, taxes, service charges and other costs tacked onto the bill. The price on the menu seems to be just a vague starting point for the actual costs!
I hope that this isn’t practiced at the other places here in the marina, I’ll most likely find out on the morrow.
