Morning
I got all of my dirty laundry put into a net bag and placed it on the dock, as the folks from Suds Laundry usually come by on a golf cart before 08:00 to collect. I was on conference calls much of the morning and at 10:00 I checked and saw that the bag was still there, so I took a break and carried my soiled items over.
Lunch
After my work day at the computer was over, I started on the most pressing and demanding task. The outboard had to be removed from the dinghy and put into the garage. While having a 20HP outboard is nice, it does weigh significantly more than the smaller 9.8HP and it is very ungainly to lift from the mounting on the transom of the dinghy and even tougher to lift onto the dive platform. But I got it done without a hitch and then proceed to decant the remaining 2-stroke fuel mixture into some spare water jugs. I later gave the fuel to one of the freelance divers.
Once the outboard was off the dinghy I lifted it onto the deck. I’d spent some time scraping the bottom while in the Saintes, but there was still a lot of growth which is going to stink for the next day or so as it dries. I tried washing it with vinegar, as that is supposed to help – but I’m not overly optimistic.
Afternoon
I started preparing the inside of the boat for storage in the afternoon hours. The unused through-hulls had to be closed, except for one which seems to be frozen in place. Then I did some cleaning and removing salt residues from the passage belowdecks and started backing up my computer system to the notebook which I’ll be taking back with me.
Dinner
I showered aboard the boat and had some Heineken at the Boardwalk bar at happy hour, then slipped across the way to have a Pizza Diavolo at Elena’s Café for dinner.
