Today reality replaces the dream-world of Caribbean beaches and boats. It is time to return to the virtual home-office and activate MS-Teams, WebEx, remote desktop and other apps. First I have to separate the wheat from the chaff in the hundreds of collected work e-mails and get going again. I see that there is a lot backlog work for me to catch up today and tomorrow, plus I’ve got another dreaded 02:00 conference call coming up as well. But that is a relatively small price to pay for the luxury of working aboard in tropical warmth and trade winds rather than at home in somewhat less idyllic surroundings.
After local lunchtime I realized that I’d drunk almost all of my coffee and urgently needed to resupply. So I dinghied across the harbour to the Catamaran Docks and tied up my dinghy. Then I walked up the hill to coffee roaster, only to arrive there and see this dreaded sign. Today is Monday.
At least I got a good walk/workout according to my Fitbit, which would help offset any calories consumed during dinner. I dinghied across the harbour and walked to the grocery store and found, tucked in the back of the shelf, a half-bag of unground beans. There’s no date on them, but they will certainly be tastier than the pre-ground stuff.
I did some more more home-office work aboard Zanshin before heading ashore to see what was open for dinner, as most of the restaurants and other places ashore close on Mondays. In the end I chose Club Sushi and ended up eating some yakisoba.
