Sunrise
I was up before the sun rose for a 5AM conference call, but I was unable to connect in time for our departmental meeting. But I did join the afternoon conference, carefully hiding my location using a blurry background in the conferencing software.
Waxing Gelcoat
Halfway through the home-office meeting I thought I heard something and removed my noise-cancelling headphones to hear Vision and his assistant knocking on the hull. He’d come to do cleaning and gelcoat work on my boat. They wanted to listen to reggae music while working and figured that Bob Marley has been overplayed so sent up some Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, Peter Tosh and in the end played some German Reggae from a band called SEEED which I was surprised that they actually liked!
Postponed operation
I was supposed to get my shoulder operated on today, but that didn’t work out and I have to postpone surgery for a bit. I leave this coming weekend for Antigua so I’ll have that work done upon my return.
Getting the cockpit ready
With the gelcoat all nice and shiny I can get the cockpit cushions out of storage and attached to the cockpit. I’ll also do the rear wind/sun screen at the same time and then there’s really nothing left to do in order to depart.
I’ve run the engine and will do a day sail tomorrow or the day thereafter with some of the guests I’d met at the hotel. And then it is off to Antigua for sailing week.
Evening out
I spent the late afternoon with my dock neighbors at the Boardwalk and we then headed across the road to Chef Robbie’s for a tasty dinner.
