2014 Trip 2014-03-26

Our plan for this morning was to get underway early and do some hiking so that we could return the rental car at 10AM. While I am sure that both boats were up and about long before 7AM we didn’t get going until quite late and planned on calling the rental agency in order to extend our return deadline by an hour or perhaps two. We made it to the trail head up in the national park and called, but nobody answered. After hiking about 15 minutes we called again and reached the rental agent, but he informed us that the car was rented out to the next clients and that we should return it as agreed. So we turned around and drove back – I was behind the wheel and driving a bit faster than normal and we made it back only 20 minutes late; which is probably the same as arriving on time in France.

Subsequently we did a bit of shopping ashore and then returned to our boats. I lazed around the boat for a while, did some stainless cleaning and other chores in the very calm waters of Deshaies. Stephen got a dive tank and proceeded to de-barnacle his hulls – when he returned he smelled of vinegar as the little sea-lice and worms that drop from the hull cleaning needed to be removed from his skin! I remember that crawling sensation on my skin after I did the same to Zanshin after the infestation in Falmouth Harbour.

I went aboard Katz for sundowners and worked on resetting their WiFi Bullet antenna, finally meeting with success after a lot of settings changes, made more difficult by the Mac OS and cursor handling. We caught a partial green flash again and I returned to my boat to eat the rest of the baguette with some Gouda and Blue Cheese.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
