Arnd

2014 Trip 2014-03-01

It is almost 5pm and I haven’t gone ashore or even been on deck much. I haven’t even taken a picture for this blog yet! I did update the pages for the previous days and found out that I’d switched my camera to take JPG pictures with the standard settings rather than use the internal RAW format, which is much better for post-processing. The difference between the two types was bigger than I expected, but it might be that the JPG settings as they come from the factory are not optimal.

I am feeling a little bit better today, but still emulate the posture of the hunchback of Nôtre Dame from the old black-and-white movies when I move around. I might have to work on the limp a bit, but my hunched attitude (if I say so myself) is beyond reproach.

I hope that the sunset is spectacular today so I’ll at least have one picture for the blog on the first day of March.
I made it ashore to dump the garbage and have a spot to eat at Calmos Café and took my notebook along to finally catch up on the internet. I opted for their burger, which I almost finished and felt bad about not eating the fresh salad, as one of the doctors had mentioned that I should avoid salads for a while as they are work for the digestive system (I was surprised at that, I thought that greens would be easy but that heavy meats would not be). I made it back aboard after dark and tried to remain awake as long as possible but was in bed, although not asleep, by 21:00.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
