Arnd

2014 Trip 2014-02-04

I was feeling a bit better today as it is going to be my last day on medications! I had sufficient energy in the morning to finally clean the stainless in the cockpit area and then I prepared to put up the second band of LED lighting. Once that was done, I got my dive gear together and did one more dive at Creole Rock. I had used the 35mm lens for the previous night’s photography and had neglected to put the x2 or x4 macro filter back on the lens, so I couldn’t take any close-up photos but despite the conditions which were still a bit murky I had a fun dive and got a couple of pictures (I took 192, the first pass brought that down to about 40, then the second pass brought that down to 16), most of which I’ve posted on this page.

Back aboard I ate the rest of my homemade bread and got out the sewing gear to affix the LED lighting strip to the bimini and by the time I was finished doing that it was approaching dusk. I fired up the generator to charge the batteries and allow me to run the compressor and recharge the dive tank. By now I realized that I’d gotten my first sunburn of the trip; I’d been quite careful about avoiding the sun when possible, but I had neglected to use sun cream and stayed out longer than I’d expected when doing the stainless in the cockpit and my back is a bit burned, just a 1 on a scale of 10 so not too bad at all (for me).

I went ashore to see the antics of the Tuesday night street fair here in Grand Case, and picked a good spot from which to take pictures of the street dancers when they came by. To my dismay a group of 2 people stood just upwind of me and chain-smoked while waiting. And then a group of tourists who wanted to take pictures as well attempted to push me from my position (without a chance at success) but when the dancers came by the crowd grew and I found myself in the third row, but I still got a couple of shots taken and the dancers and percussion section were doing a great job at animating the audience.

Subsequently I sat back at the bar at the end of the dinghy dock and had a beer and Panini while watching the crowds walk past before repairing to the boat and finishing my book.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
