The morning was quiet without the daily 07:30 chat on VHF CH10 this Sunday and I spent time editing the pictures of the night before, but having trouble deleting those excess to requirements (so I posted too many to the previous day’s blog page and kept even more). I decided to head to town and get some of my grocery shopping done at the Grand Marché but stopped off at a dive shop to get a new mask as my old one is no longer clear but yellowing from too much UV exposure over time. I will keep the old and abused snorkel, though – that looks abused but is still functional.
I was lucky to get into the Grand Marché before their 14:00 closing and since I had some perishable items I headed back to the boat quickly. I got some Edamame (soybeans in the pod) which is one of my favorite beer snacks and I think I’ll make that for happy hour snacks tonight. I started storing my week’s purchases but opted to return to the PC and write this blog entry plus edit some pictures. I have to turn on the inverter when I use the new monitor, but it is surprisingly efficient on energy use, nonetheless I think I’ll have to fire up the generator later on, particularly if I boil water for the edamame.
I thought I’d replace the cockpit speakers in the afternoon since the sound quality was pretty miserable, but it was a lot of work getting the old ones out since they had been put in with 5200. Removal without destroying them was impossible but since I had the replacements aboard I went ahead and did so. Unfortunately, the new speakers fit, but the outer diameter was smaller than the originals and this showed a ring of discoloration which is quite unsightly, so I am going to have to return to Island Waterworld and get a speaker with a bigger outer diameter. Then I decided to put the Bénéteau rope holders into the dinghy garage, but since I have to put screws through fiberglass I need to pre-drill some holes and I have no drill aboard (well, I’ve got my 110V Dremel set, but the little inverter that I got with it isn’t powerful enough to get the darned thing started without tripping the inverter safety fuse) so I will either need to buy a 220V drill on the French side or get a bigger portable 110V inverter.

2014 Trip 2014-01-26
My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
