It felt strange to head towards Nanny Cay with no dodger or bimini set up and with the headsails safely stored in the cabin (which, I’d like to add, was a lot of work to do alone) and I actually managed to get a bit of sunburn – my first for this trip! I used the engine and for part of the voyage I had a follwoing wind from about 30° so I pulled out the main as well; but since I’d already tied down the boom I couldn’t use the sail quite as much but it still added a good knot or two to my speed. I had a haulout planned at 13:15 and actually made it into the entrance channel at exactly 13:10 but the shore crew were on island time so I drifted for a bit in front of the haulout pit until they were ready. Once we’d gotten Zanshin positioned it turned out that some other boat had to be put into the water first and I let the wind push me out of the pit while the big travelift went to pick up the other boat. I used the time to get the two backstays removed so that the boat would fit onto the travelift. When they were finally ready to go so was I and I got my suitcase ashore and checked into the neighbouring hotel while Zanshin was being transported to her position in the yard. I even managed to get the paperwork done in the office and pre-paid for the summer stay.

2013 Trip 2013-05-17
My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
