Arnd

Winter 2011-2012 Trip 2012-02-10

I woke up early to get set up and find my PADI card so that I could join the 2-tank dive with Octopus Diving in the morning. I arrived there at 07:45 and found out that the boat was heading to Île Tintamarre for a dive off the reef and another on the sunken barge. I’d forgotten how fast and how much pounding those little dive boat take but we made it to the dive site in short order and were soon in the water off Tintamarre, with a good swell hitting the boat and making it smart to descend as quickly as possible. I had the camera along but I’d put in the wrong settings (1/125 shutter and F18 with a flash – great for macro but miserable for anything further away) so of all the pictures I took just a few worked out, particularly sad for the second dive on a sunken tugboat which was full of wonderful fish. On the positive side the dives were a lot of fun and I will surely return to the tugboat wreck another time.
In the afternoon I connected to the internet and was pleasantly surprised that my papers had arrived in St. Martin and were on a truck to their destination (which was closed, as it was late Friday afternoon); but I’ll be able to get the items on Monday. Later on in the afternoon as I was returning from a baguette purchasing run, I saw Mark of Sanctuary anchor next to me and although we’d communicated online before we’d never met so we joined up for dinner and drinks ashore for a nice Friday night.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
