Not only was it another somewhat rolly night, but the full moon came into play and I had some really strange dreams. Luckily, by the time I write this I’ve forgotten the contents, just that they were disturbing indeed. The waves had settled somewhat overnight and I did a bit of work on geo-coding my pictures from this trip as I had about 2 hours of good internet connection, but when that disappeared I put the dive gear together for one more dive at Créole Rock (it turns out it isn’t called Île Créole after all) with the intention of finding a subject and using all the different camera and flash modes to see how the effects differed. Unfortunately the visibility was terrible and none of my pictures turned out (which doesn’t keep me from posting a couple anyway), I spent over 30 minutes outside of the little cave in which a moray eel about the length of my arm was waiting. All the pictures with flash had terrible backscatter and those without a flash didn’t turn out for other reasons. But at least I got some practice in patience.
Back on the boat I noticed that my anchor snubber had snapped and the little metal shackle that I’d used had sunk to the bottom – I’ll snorkel on that tomorrow in the hopes that visibility will be good enough to let me find it.
